Network Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a hands‑on IT Network Engineer to join and lead our dynamic team. Based out of our Southampton Port and reporting into our Network Manager, you will play a pivotal role in conducting internal analyses of network performance and traffic analysis, as well as working on projects to improve network performance across DP World.

• Monitor the network as defined by the IT procedures and resolve support issues.
• Maintain and develop network hardware and software and provide on‑site assistance and troubleshooting.
• Implement network changes into the various environments following company procedures, i.e. change control and security policies.
• Monitor and maintain the clustered high‑availability solutions across two sites.
• Monitor the data centres and virtual environments.
• Monitor the site‑wide network infrastructure, including all LAN, WAN and Wireless LAN connections.
• Monitor communication systems.
• Be familiar with DR procedures.
• Supply service desk support facilities.
• Contribute to and develop network documentation.
• Take on other tasks and projects as defined by the Infrastructure Manager.

• Minimum degree level or equivalent.
• CCNA or higher or equivalent qualifications.
• Familiar with ITIL concepts.
• Commercial awareness.
• Proven experience supporting large Cisco‑based enterprise networks.
• Experience networking in large industrial environments (advantageous).
• Understanding of virtualization and virtual network technology such as Cisco UCS and VMware.
• Understanding of network design and architectures.
• Demonstrable ability to work within a team and liaise effectively with third parties.
• Excellent networking knowledge.
• Ability to respond quickly to incidents and urgent requests.
• Can work effectively under pressure and contribute to multiple concurrent projects.
• Good communication skills.
• Familiarity with one or more of:
  Checkpoint firewalls, IPSEC VPNs (remote access and site‑to‑site), Cisco ISE, F5 load balancers.
