This is a varied, hands-on role where you'll support civils and utility projects across multiple sites while helping to keep operations running smoothly.

Vacancy Introduction

As a Driver Operative (3.5 Tonne), you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operation of civils works sites across the region. Working alongside Supervisors, Gangers and site teams, you'll carry out a range of practical duties, including transporting materials and equipment, supporting excavation and utility works, maintaining safe and organised work areas, and ensuring vehicles are kept clean and roadworthy.

The role also involves loading and unloading vehicles, transporting waste materials to approved disposal sites, assisting with site setup and operational activities, and contributing to a positive health and safety culture. Flexibility is important, as you'll be required to participate in an emergency call-out rota and occasionally work outside of standard hours when operational needs require.

Cappagh Browne Utilities Ltd is a special purpose joint venture established to deliver wastewater network maintenance and repair services for Southern Water across the South of England. We focus on keeping sewer networks operating efficiently through planned maintenance, emergency response and rehabilitation works. Our capability is underpinned by a substantial fleet of specialist vehicles including vacuum tankers, jetting units and CCTV survey equipment, supported by advanced technology for rapid diagnostics and effective solutions.

With a reputation for safety, reliability and technical expertise, Cappagh Browne plays a critical role in protecting communities and maintaining essential infrastructure.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is dependable, safety-conscious and enjoys working as part of a team. Ideally, you'll have:

Experience driving and operating commercial vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes, including tipper vehicles.

A full, clean UK driving licence.

Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions effectively.

A strong work ethic with a reliable, proactive approach to work.

Basic knowledge of health and safety practices and a commitment to safe working.

The ability to work across multiple sites and adapt to changing priorities.

Desirable

Groundworks, civils or utility industry experience.

Experience working in a fast-paced, multi-site environment.

NRSWA Streetworks qualification.

NPORS Vehicle Marshal certification.

Emergency First Aid and Manual Handling training.
