Position Overview
Equans is looking for multiple Day Shift Security Officers to join our team on the Southern Water contracts in Otterbourne, SO21 2SW
. This is a permanent role working 42 hours per week with a competitive salary of £27,594.08 and an attractive benefits package. You will be employed by Equans, supporting the Southern Water contracts.
4 on 4 off
Day Shift: 7:00 am – 7:00 pm
Candidates must have their own means of transport (car, motorbike, or bicycle) as there is no public transport nearby.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor and control access to the site, ensuring only authorised personnel are granted entry.
- Conduct regular foot patrols over varying terrain, covering distances of over 10 km per shift.
- Respond promptly and effectively to security incidents and emergencies.
- Operate and monitor security systems and access control software to detect potential risks.
- Maintain high levels of situational awareness and assess on‑site security challenges.
- De‑escalate confrontational situations and manage conflicts with professionalism.
- Liaise with management, emergency services, and other stakeholders during escalated incidents.
- Ensure compliance with security and safety protocols at all times.
- Communicate with members of the public as required, ensuring a courteous and professional approach.
- Valid SIA (Security Industry Authority) licence.
- Proven experience in a security role or a related field.
- Experience managing a security team.
- First Aid certification.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
- Experience with access control systems and other security technology.
- Clear criminal background check.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to resolve conflicts calmly and effectively.
- Flexibility to work a rotating shift pattern, including nights and weekends.
- Basic computer literacy for logging reports and accessing security systems.
- Advanced reporting experience.
