Position Objective

Ensures the provision of high quality, cost-effective health care of the Cardiac Procedural patient through direct expert clinical practice, consultation, clinical quality management, and research utilization. Collaborates with the Medical Directors of the Cardiac Cath Lab, Clinical Director of CCL/IR/PRCU, and the Director of The Heart and Vascular Institute, and other departments in same day discharge program planning and implementation to meet strategic goals and objectives.

  • Evaluates patients preoperatively and will determine surgical clearance.
  • Participates in long-range planning activities and assists with the development/implementation of new programs to screen and evaluate patients at an elevated risk for developing cardiac disease. Participates in the preparation/achievement of annual goals and objectives for the Cardiac Procedural program
  • Collaborates with management to maintain compliance with state, federal, and Joint Commission requirements.
  • Assists the Director of CCL/IR/PRCU in the implementation of research projects.
  • Develop and maintain an outcomes database for cardiac procedural cases in accordance with Joint Commission standards.
  • Facilitates interactions with the patients, families, peers, ancillary staff, and consultants. Identifies educational needs, and develops multidisciplinary and patient education programs related to risk factors for cardiac disease.
  • Performs history and physicals, discharge instructions, patient instruction, pre-medication, orders lab work, pre-screen patient and risk strategy. Organize patient charts ensuring proper procedure notes, labs, and imaging studies are available.
  • Provides follow up care for the patients undergoing an invasive procedure and appropriate post-care to include patient education, prescriptions and referrals for therapy. Refers patients to appropriate licensed physician or other health care provider as condition or circumstances warrant.
  • Produces reliable and accurate billing records that allow the Anne Arundel Medical Center to correctly bill third party payer and other consumers of healthcare at the hospital.
  • Works with outside providers to prepare patients for surgery.

Required License/Certifications

Educational/Experience Requirements:
