Position: Judy Center Multi-Lingual Family Support ($25/hour)

Judy Center Multilingual Family Support Facilitator - PART-TIME

The role of The Judy Center Multilingual Family Support Facilitator, a grant-funded position, is crucial in providing culturally and linguistically appropriate support to children aged 0-5 and their families. The facilitator will work alongside the Site Coordinator and Family Service Coordinator to implement and maintain family-centered case management for families at the Judy Center. The facilitator will work closely with families from diverse backgrounds to ensure that children receive the resources, education, and support they need to thrive during their early years, specifically for families whose home language is Spanish.

The facilitator will support in implementing, monitoring, and hosting early childhood programs and services for children and families served by the Judy Center to address the 5 Component Standards of the Maryland State Department of Education Judy Centers. The facilitator will work with families to establish goals and partner with community agencies to achieve these goals. This position is responsible for identifying and recruiting young children and their families to use services available to enhance school readiness.

Essential Performance Responsibilities:

  • Offer translation and interpretation services in Spanish to ensure clear communication between families & service providers during Judy Center playgroups and home visits.
  • Assist in developing and distributing multilingual educational materials, including newsletters, flyers, and handouts, tailored to the needs of families.
  • Participates in recruitment and enrollment, and maintains data on families who enroll in the Judy Center.
  • Advise families on services available through the Judy Center program or community partners.
  • Works with the Family Service Coordinator to support families and make referrals for needed services, and follows up in a timely manner to ensure services are received.
  • Obtain and distribute handouts/brochures of interest to parents (i.e., child care options, health issues, developmental stages, etc.).
  • Collaborate with the site coordinator, family service coordinator and partners for outreach activities, events, adult education, and more.
  • Perform outreach in the community while recruiting new families to participate in Judy Center programming.
  • Has ongoing, clear communication with the site coordinator to ensure any new information or needs are shared in a timely manner.
  • Regularly attend and participate in scheduled meetings with community partners, monthly service coordination meetings, and participate in ISP/IEP meetings when appropriate.
  • Attend Statewide Judy Center meetings/trainings as needed.
  • Assists with developing and facilitating parent-child activities/playgroups that align with readiness expectations.
  • Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students and families as is expected of teachers.
  • Facilitates the implementation of selected county's research/evidence-based home visiting program while staying up to date on any changes to the program; ordering materials, attending trainings, and organizing all needed materials.
  • Plans and implements research/evidence-based playgroups for families with children birth through age 4, with the Judy Center Family Service Coordinator.
  • Become familiar with the 5 Component Standards and how this relates to a high-quality Judy Center.

Terms of Employment:

Non-exempt position. PART-TIME employment of no more than 20 hours per week for 45 weeks a year at the school of the Judy Center Site. This position includes travel to homes, schools, and offices throughout the system and state-wide. Grant-funded position to be renewed annually, if funding is available.
