Primary Role in the Organization: Support production by ensuring all product testing is complete and accurately reported in a timely manner.
Reports To: Assistant Manager, Test Lab
Supervises: N/A
Responsibilities- Coordinate engineering & technical facets of new model testing, product evaluations and trial requests / projects.
- Develop and maintain testing procedures for Test Lab equipment, fixtures and test set-ups.
- Prepare and coordinate cost estimates involved in Lab testing, both internal and outside.
- Conduct special studies scheduled for new and existing product/designs.
- Support IATF-16949 standard and procedures within NATC.
- Develop and maintain Test Lab test records and files.
- Support training and direction of Test Lab Technicians.
- Coordinate Technician work schedules.
- Create and maintain testing schedules.
- Coordinate with customers and internal departments regarding testing.
- Experience
- Experience with Honda, Nissan, and Toyota Lab Standards and test procedures.
- Experience with Test Lab Test methods and Laboratory studies and protocols.
- Proven ability to support development of lab test procedures and conduct product testing.
- Ability to specify, design, troubleshoot, and build fixtures in support of Test Lab Testing.
- Experience and extensive computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience and knowledge of electronics including use of accelerometers, load cells, and sensors.
- Working familiarity of Quality Systems.
- Working familiarity of JIS test methods.
- Working knowledge of metrology and measurement systems analysis studies.
- Education
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent Test Lab experience.
- Must be able to read blueprints and schematics.
- Physical Demands
- Keyboarding, sitting, walking, and bending.
- Must be able to lift 80 lbs on an occasional basis.
- Must be able to use various hand and power tools.
- Equipment Usage
- Computer.
- Copier and fax machine.
- Environmental chambers.
- Various dimensional measurement gages/devices.
- Ability to use and maintain various general and specialized lab test equipment to support product testing (examples include equipment for tensile/compression, vibration, static and low risk deployments, impactor, and dynamic sled).
- Mental/Cognitive Demands
- Self-directed, goal oriented and a team player with good communication skills.
- Must be able to work overtime and travel on short notice.
- Must be well organized.
