PHARMACY TECHNICIAN - PER DIEM
Hackensack Meridian Health invites applicants for the Pharmacy Technician - Per Diem position. The role is located at the HMH Specialty Pharmacy in Eatontown, New Jersey.
OverviewThe Pharmacy Technician functions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist and assists with medication orders, drug inventory, and delivery to patient care areas.
Responsibilities- Inventory - Maintains accurate inventories of medications and supplies, supports the drug inventory process including rotation and restocking.
- Regulatory compliance - Maintains a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Communication and teamwork - Communicates with team members, physicians, and patients effectively and positively.
- Prepares intravenous admixtures according to aseptic techniques and department policies under pharmacist supervision; assists in labeling and dispensing inpatient unit dose medications and delivers medications as needed.
- Assists in compounding medication by weighing, measuring, mixing, blending, filtering, distilling, emulsifying, and titrating per standard pharmacy practices and policy.
- Delivers and fills controlled substances and other medications to ADCs, assists in reconciling narcotic discrepancies daily.
- Prepares medications and loads/unloads into ADC with barcode scanning.
- Answers phones per established etiquette and directs calls.
- Prepares and packages hazardous medications for administration under pharmacist supervision.
- Maintains necessary paperwork, legal documents, and records for all medications.
- Participates in departmental quality‑assurance and safety activities, assists in data review for monitoring drug therapy.
- Assumes responsibility for safe job performance and reports hazards immediately to management.
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
- Adheres to HMH organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Effective oral and written English communication.
- Strong multitasking ability.
- Cooperative with others.
- At least one year of pharmacy experience (outpatient or inpatient) preferred.
- Valid New Jersey Pharmacy Technician License.
- PTCB or ExCPT Certification within six months of employment, with exceptions for those hired before July 2024 or enrolled in an ACPE accredited pharmacy program.
Lifts a minimum of 5 lbs, pushes/pulls a minimum of 5 lbs, and stands for a minimum of 4 hours a day.
CompensationMinimum hourly rate of $23.97. Compensation may vary based on market data, experience, education, and other factors.
