Responsibilities
  • Responsible for all functions of order taking, computer entry of orders, medical documentation, insurance verification, authorization, and billing as well as office support services within the business line.
  • Assist customers in completing appropriate forms and paperwork and interpreting insurance/financial data.
  • Receive incoming telephone calls from customers and referral sources, answer according to standard operating procedures, and provide courteous service.
  • Process referral source requests and analyze basic customer information to determine the appropriate course of action.
  • Enter data in the computer system, obtain missing information, and ensure medical data is processed accurately and timely.
  • Assist customers with required medical documentation and collect appropriate patient file information.
  • Provide information to referral sources regarding programs and services and communicate client needs.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies, interact with customers courteously and compassionately.
  • Handle customer financial matters, notify them of responsibility, and resolve payment arrangements.
  • Obtain insurance verifications and authorizations online or by phone, maintaining current knowledge of Medicare reimbursement criteria and insurance contracts.
  • Assist other staff members as needed and coordinate deliveries/pickups with Patient Service Techs.
  • Coordinate work to maximize productivity and organization of the workday.
  • Review and confirm all deliveries, review open orders daily, and run requests to ensure no missing orders.
  • Process billing edits/releases, perform billing data entry, and run Hold Reports weekly to correct claims on hold.
  • Provide phone support, relay messages, and take messages as needed.
  • Provide clerical support: make copies, file, and handle correspondence.
  • Respond to correspondence and voice mail on a consistent basis.
  • Assist Accounts Manager as necessary and demonstrate willingness to help.
  • Complete other duties as assigned and demonstrate flexibility.
  • Adhere to HMH organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
  • Lift a minimum of 10 lbs., push/pull a minimum of 10 lbs., and stand a minimum of 2 hours a day.
Qualifications

Required:

  • High School diploma, GED, or an equivalent program.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong customer service skills.

Preferred:

  • DME experience.
  • Two (2) years of healthcare experience.
  • Associate’s degree or higher.
Job Duties / Compensation

The starting rate of pay is $22.77 hourly and the posted hourly rate is an estimate of the minimum base pay. Compensation is benchmarked against market data and may vary based on experience, education, skills, location, internal equity, and budget. Some positions may also be eligible for performance‑based incentives, bonuses, or commissions. Shift differentials may apply for evening, night, or weekend shifts.
