IT Project Manager, Systems Engineer
Summary / Position
Purpose:
The Director of Engineering (IT - Functional Engineering) is a strategic technology leader responsible for overseeing the design, development, and delivery of scalable, reliable, and high‑quality IT solutions that support business operations. This role leads cross‑functional engineering and development teams, drives technical strategy, ensures system performance and security, and partners closely with business leaders to enable organizational growth through technology. This role is also responsible for advancing company initiatives, empowering eCommerce and VAS growth, and supporting company initiatives through technology solutions.
EssentialDuties, Functions and/or Responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategy
- Develop and execute the engineering strategy aligned with organizational goals.
- Advance AmpX initiatives and be customer‑focused.
- Lead and mentor a team of functional engineers, developers, and technical specialists.
- Create a culture of innovation, ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee resource planning, team development, and succession planning.
- Direct the architecture, implementation, and support of key business systems and applications, including eCommerce, eProcurement, and VMI.
- Ensure engineering standards, best practices, and documentation are consistently followed.
- Drive system integration, automation, and modernization initiatives.
- Partner with IT security to ensure systems meet security, compliance, and data governance requirements.
- Oversee the delivery of complex IT projects from requirements through deployment.
- Prioritize resource workload based on business needs and operational impact.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Implement and improve development methodologies such as Agile, Dev Ops, and CI/CD.
- Collaborate with business leaders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Serve as a key advisor on technology trends, system capabilities, and opportunities for optimization.
- Communicate project status, risks, and solutions to executive leadership.
- Establish KPIs to measure system performance, team efficiency, and overall technical health.
- Ensure robust incident, problem, and change management processes.
- Optimize system uptime, reliability, and scalability.
- Directly and indirectly responsible for product quality.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field required;
Master's preferred. - 10+ years of progressive experience in IT engineering, including 5+ years in leadership roles.
- Proven experience overseeing enterprise-level applications, system integrations, and infrastructure support.
- Strong understanding of enterprise architecture, application design, and SaaS/cloud solutions.
- Experience with Agile methodologies, Dev Ops practices, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of databases, APIs, integration tools, and system monitoring platforms.
- Ability to lead across multiple engineering domains (applications, systems, integrations).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
- Ability to influence and drive change in a complex, fast‑paced environment.
- Experience in a multi‑site or global organization preferred.
- Background in eCommerce, VMI, ERP, CRM, or other major enterprise system implementations.
- Certification in Agile, PMP, ITIL, or relevant engineering frameworks preferred.
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
