Designer (Electric Distribution Projects)
We are searching for a Designer (electric distribution projects) on behalf of our client. This is a 6‑month contract assignment (W‑2). The person will be responsible for design and management of electric distribution projects for new and existing customers, including customer interaction, project management, field assessments, and system design using GE Small world (customized GIS). Tasks include transformer sizing, underground cable routing, and pole placement.
The team includes: 5 electric designers, 3 service designers, 2 gas designers.
Key requirements:
Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Please note:
No Third‑Party or C2C Firms.
- Check SAP for new customer contacts.
- Field visits or computer‑based design work.
- Weekly scheduling meetings (Mon/Tues) and team touchpoints (Thurs).
- Highly varied day‑to‑day tasks.
- Support the electric side and collaborate with service/gas designers.
- Primarily support external customers (residential and commercial).
- Collaborative office environment with idea sharing.
- Mix of field and office work. Field work includes visits to residential, commercial, and construction sites.
- 30% field work (field assessments).
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Strong communication (verbal and written).
- Organizational and project management skills.
- Basic electrical knowledge or background.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office.
- Experience with GIS/AutoCAD is a plus but not required.
- Open to various backgrounds (construction, call center, police, etc.).
- Experience in electrical or utility fields is a plus.
- Must be able to use personal vehicle with mileage reimbursement.
Base salary range: $28.00/hr to $33.00/hr, depending on experience, qualifications, and skills.
