Quality Specialist – Hygienist

Description Overview

The factory hygienist maintains pre‑requisite programs to ensure Food Safety and Compliance, supporting consumer trust and preference. The role oversees Sanitation, Zoning, cGMPs, Allergen Management, Foreign‑Body Prevention, Environmental Monitoring, Pest Control, and Product Protection plans.

Shift: 2‑2‑3 day rotation working 6 am – 6 pm.

Scope of the Role
  • Quality Systems:
    Manage, enforce, and analyze trends and verification activities related to pre‑requisite programs; ensure risk assessments and Food Safety Management Systems are up to date; support implementation of the facility’s environmental monitoring; perform root‑cause investigations and help implement corrective and preventive actions; analyze data to eliminate pathogens; work closely with Pest Control provider to close gaps.
  • People and Knowledge:
    Develop and execute training for pre‑requisite programs; ensure compliance on the production floor; coach; collaborate with Project Managers and Contractors to uphold hygiene; drive improvement projects and provide oversight for sanitation.
  • Quality Auditing and Verification:
    Conduct GMP, foreign‑body, and pest‑control inspections; maintain records of audits and corrective actions; support annual HACCP reviews and floor walks; document hygiene systems per ISO and regulatory requirements.
  • Quality Mastership:
    Support continuous improvement initiatives toward zero defects; address non‑conformance and coordinate quality/food‑safety risk analysis.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Experience Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or related field or equivalent experience in a food manufacturing quality role.
Operational Experience
  • Experience with pre‑requisite programs, hygiene, and sanitation.
  • Working knowledge of pathogens and environmental monitoring.
  • Experience in a highly regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of cGMPs and FDA requirements.
