Position SummaryUnder the direction of the foreperson, grading equipment operators will be responsible for operating several types of road construction equipment in a safe and efficient manner. This equipment may include, but is not limited to front-end loaders, bulldozers, motor graders, rollers, and other pieces of excavating equipment. On the job training will provide the knowledge and skills to become a productive member of one of our crews with the potential for advancement opportunities.
This position is a full-time seasonal, working April/May through November (weather permitting). This position requires working overtime and some Saturdays. Local and regional travel opportunities are available.
Operate grading and excavation equipment safely and efficiently under the foreperson’s direction. Use equipment such as front-end loaders, bulldozers, motor graders, rollers, and other excavating pieces. Follow company safety programs and policies. Train and mentor less experienced employees. Travel locally and regionally as needed.
Qualifications- One or more years operating road or excavating construction equipment.
- Technical school degree in Heavy Equipment Operation, primarily with experience in front-end loader, bulldozer, motor grader.
- Ability to understand grades from plans, slopes and identify potential conflicts.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to obtain Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), if required.
- Physical ability to work in all seasonal weather and environmental conditions.
- Ability to listen and take direction from others while being a team player and helping to train less experienced employees.
