Dutiesincludeorganisingandoverseeingallstatutorytestingsurveysforauthority-ownedbuildingstoensurefullregulatorycompliance,suchasasbestosre-inspections,mansafesystemevaluations,safetyglazingassessments,andservicingofrollershutterandautomaticdoors,toaddjustafew. Inthisposition,youwillbeexpectedtoobtainquotations,initiatepurchaseorders,andsupervisecompliance-relatedactivitiessuchasasbestosremovalandencapsulation.
Responsibilitiesalsoincludeevaluatingriskassessmentsandmethodstatements,aswellasauthorisingthecompletionoftheseworks. Principal Accountabilities Construction Officer
1.Managethestatutorytestingforalllocalauthoritybuildingstoensureallnecessarysurveysareundertakenattherequiredintervals. 2.Manageanyworkthatcomesfromthestatutorysurveyreports.
3.Toundertakeasbestosmanagementinbuildingsandensurethatthe Authoritydoesnotbreachregulationsorexposeofficersorthepublictoriskforasbestos.
4.Workwithcolleaguesintheauthoritytomanagecomplianceofbuildingswithcontractualtermsof Tenancy agreements,andreportbreachestoseniormanagementforfollow-upaction.
5.Implement the Divisionsresponsibilitiesfor Health &Safety.
6.Adheringtocurrentasbestosregulations,legislation,specifications,British Standards,Codesofpracticeand
CDMRegulations.
7.Toactas Clerkof Worksforconstructionprojectsofrangingcomplexities .
8.Liaisedirectlywithofficers,senior management,building occupants&thepublicinrelationtositesafetyissues,constructiondefectsandtoensurethatbuildingsaredesignedtobeconstructed,operated,maintainedanddemolishedsafely.
9.Undertake management&administrationofminorworksprojectsandtoassistin

Surveying duties. 10.Liaisedirectlywith Contractors,subcontractors&HSEinrelationto
Asbestos issues. 11.Attendanceatmeetingswithclients,senior management,external agencies,consultantsandcontractors. 12.Maintain Continual Professional Developmenttokeepawareofrevisedlegislation ,newbuildingproductsetc. 13.Motivate,encouragethedevelopmentofstaff. 14.Assistinthepreparationof Departmental&Corporate Plansand Policies . 15.Undertakeanyotherdutiesthatmayberequired. 16.Tocomplywiththerelevantsectionsofthe Authority'spolicystatementon
Health,Safetyand Welfareat Work . 17.Toadheretotheprinciplesofthe Corporate Equality Policyandensurecommitmenttoanti -discriminatory practice. 18.Toassist Building Services Engineers including CAD,preparationofspecificationsetc. Person Specification Non -Managerial Construction Officer Qualifications&experience

Construction/Building Assets discipline. Extensiveknowledgeofdealingwithissuesinoneormoreofthefollowingareas:
Asbestos,Construction,Building Surveying,CDM,Clerkof Works duties,Mansafe Systems,Safety Glazing. Experienceofstatutorytestingincommercialbuildings. Experienceofdealingwithallaspectsofbuildingconstruction/buildingassetsanddesigninanon-domestic context. AsbestosP
