We are looking for an experienced SEN teacher to join our fantastic school in Ebbw Vale and work alongside specialist multidisciplinary teams. The school offers a highly supportive environment for learners ages 3-19 with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) to help prepare them for the next steps after education.

The school caters to a broad range of ALN including ASC, ADHD, PMLD and SEMH. Learners benefit from therapeutic and developmental provisions in the school such as physiotherapy, hydrotherapy and rebound therapy.

The school’s mission is to equip every learner with the skills and confidence to thrive both in school and in their transition into adulthood. It is imperative that the successful candidate also shares the same goal in their day-to-day teaching.

About the Role
-
- Deliver highly engaging, personalised lessons that meet the diverse needs of learners with ALN across a wide range of abilities.

- Create a supportive, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment where pupils feel safe, valued and motivated to learn.

- Work collaboratively with a specialist multidisciplinary team, including therapists, support staff and external practitioners, to provide a holistic approach to learning.

- Integrate sensory activities, communication strategies and therapeutic approaches into daily teaching practice

- Support pupils in developing essential life skills, independence and confidence both within the classroom and in wider school contexts.

- Monitor progress closely, assess individual needs and adapt teaching methods to ensure every pupil can thrive.

- Build strong, positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues to ensure consistent support and continuity of development.

- Contribute to whole-school initiatives aimed at enriching the learning experience and preparing learners for their next steps into adulthood.

Requirements
-
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

- Experience specialising in SEN teaching environments

- Enhanced Child & Adult DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

- Registration with the EWC (Education Workforce Council) or eligible to register.

- A genuine interest in developing a career within the SEN/ALN sector.

- Ability to use Makaton (or a commitment to undertake training) is preferred but not essential.

- Ability to travel to the school and between sites when required.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
