Numeracy and literacy Support Assistant

Location: Gwent

Supply Team are currently looking for a Numeracy and Literacy Support Assistant, to work with one of our Secondary Schools in Newport.

This is a full-time position, starting in September, and will be for the whole of the 2026/27 academic year, in the first instance. The successful candidate will be supporting students who have upcoming exams, enabling them to develop their numeracy and literacy skills as well as boosting their confidence within the subject matter.

We would welcome applications from candidates who have undertaken similar roles in the past, or who have a background in providing support to children and/or young adults. A patient, empathetic and understanding character would be well suited to this role, as you will be building relationships with student who will benefit greatly from the additional support.

What you can expect in the role of a Numeracy and Literacy Support Assistant:

* To work under the guidance of the class teacher in supporting the pupils;

* Assisting with the preparation of the classroom before each lesson, as well as tidying/collecting workbooks etc at the end;

* Working on a one-to-one basis where required;

* Attendance of school trips;

* Being aware of child protection and safeguarding protocols;

* Accompanying pupils whilst out of class;

* Carry out general administrative duties, as directed;
