Youth Engagement Officer

Location: Covering Abergavenny, Abertillery & Blackwood
Salary: £25,000 - £27,000 per annum
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: Weekdays, 9:00am - 4:30pm

We're recruiting on behalf of our client for a passionate and motivated Youth Engagement Officer to join their team, supporting the delivery of the Jobs Growth Wales+ (JGW+) programme.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping young people develop their skills, access training opportunities and take positive steps towards employment.

The Role

As a Youth Engagement Officer, you'll be responsible for engaging with young people across your local area, promoting the Jobs Growth Wales+ programme and encouraging new learners to enrol. You'll build relationships within the community, work closely with local organisations and schools, and support young people in accessing valuable training and employment opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage with and recruit new learners onto the Jobs Growth Wales+ programme.

  • Promote the programme through networking, community outreach and local events.

  • Build strong relationships with schools, community organisations and referral partners.

  • Develop partnerships with local businesses to create learner opportunities.

  • Promote training programmes and support services to prospective learners.

  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure a smooth learner journey.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Experience working with young people or a genuine passion for supporting them.

  • Good knowledge of the local community and networks.

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.

  • Willingness to complete a DBS check (funded by the employer) and register with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).

Desirable:

  • Experience with in post-16 education, employability programmes or youth organisations.
