Intervention Officer
Hours:
35 hours per week
Working pattern:
This is an office-based role with some evening work required where necessary to meet the needs of service users and service delivery. This role requires some evening work.
Reporting to:
Intervention Team Leader
Location:
Phoenix DAS office (NP13 3AY
), with travel as required across the service area. Please note that this is not a hybrid position.
Service Overview:
This role sits within our specialist domestic abuse service supporting adults, children and families affected by domestic abuse.
Phoenix Domestic Abuse Services provides an ‘’All Family Approach’, providing holistic, strengths-based and trauma-informed support to victims, children and, where appropriate and safe, individuals who have used harmful behaviours.
The Intervention Officer will work as part of the Intervention Team to deliver specialist interventions to individuals who have used abusive or harmful behaviours within intimate relationships.
The postholder will contribute to the assessment, risk management and delivery of behaviour change interventions, while maintaining a clear focus on the safety and wellbeing of victims and children.
Job Purpose:
The role will involve working with individuals who display harmful behaviour in the context of domestic abuse of all genders and will require the postholder to maintain a clear focus on accountability, responsibility for behaviour and the impact of domestic abuse on partners, children, and others.
The Intervention Officer will provide assessment and behavioural change interventions to individuals who have used domestic abuse and harmful behaviours.
The postholder will deliver the Phoenix DAS Intervention Programme, in a group and 1:2:1 setting, and will contribute to the ongoing development and quality assurance of the programme.
The role will involve working with individuals to increase their understanding of unhealthy behaviours, recognise the impact of their behaviour on others, develop insights and take responsibility for making sustainable changes.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Assessment and Intervention
* Complete structured assessments with individuals referred to the service to establish suitability for intervention, identify needs, and assess risk.
* Deliver evidence-informed interventions to individuals who have used domestic abuse and harmful behaviours.
* Deliver interventions to individuals of all genders in accordance with Phoenix DAS policies, procedures, and programme standards.
* Support individuals to recognise and understand unhealthy behaviours and the impact of those behaviours on partners, children, and other family members.
* Promote accountability and responsibility for behaviour.
* Challenge minimisation, denial, victim-blaming, justification, and other behaviours that may undermine accountability or increase risk.
* Support individuals to develop insight into the beliefs, attitudes, emotions, and behaviours that contribute to abusive behaviour.
* Support individuals to develop safer ways of responding to conflict, emotions, relationships, and situations that may increase risk.
* Write focused and accurate reports for external agencies and clients.
* Maintain a clear focus on sustainable behaviour change
* Ensure interventions remain proportionate to assessed need, risk, and the individual’s capacity to engage.
Programme Delivery
Deliver the Perpetrator Programme in accordance with programme requirements and relevant quality standards.
Undertake assessment sessions and prepare individuals for programme participation.
Facilitate structured group sessions and other programme interventions as required.
Deliver both daytime and evening sessions.
