Internal Auditor Food

Location: Gwent

The site is looking for an experienced auditor to manage the internal audit programme in compliance with BRCGS, retailer food safety standards and policies, and conduct external audits on suppliers and services providers where required. The ideal candidate will be meticulous, detail oriented and organised, and able to work collaboratively with all departments and stakeholders. They will help to encourage a positive food safety culture and support continuous improvement of food safety and quality compliance across the company.

Duties and Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities of the Food Safety Auditor will be as follows:

* Maintain the internal auditing schedule atsite , for QMS and retailer customer audits.

* Assign non-conformances and deadlines where appropriate to relevant staff

* Support in correction and preventive actions to close out non-conformance

* GAP analysis of current practise against new versions and standards

* Supporting Technical management with upkeep of QMS in line with requirements

* Auditing of suppliers to a risk-based frequency, and new suppliers where required

* Auditing of service providers i.e. laundry, storage

* Keep up to date with relevant legislation and update site of changes as needed

* Assist both sites in hosting BRCGS and customer external audits, presenting internal audit and compliance.

* Training and competency assessment of site based internal auditing team.

Qualifications & Skills

* Food Safety level 3 minimum

* HACCP level 3 minimum

* At least 3 years food manufacturing experience

* BSc in Food Science

* Good knowledge of BRCGS Food Safety standard and UK food legislation

* Experience with UK retailer food safety, integrity & responsible sourcing standards

* Internal auditing qualification

* Experience auditing external sites

* Knowledge of animal welfare and sustainable sourcing

* Positive collaboration with departments and external stakeholders.

* Professional conduct and communication during audits.

* Able to travel to supplier and service provider sites for auditing, including outside of the UK

* Site-based role, exception of travelling for audits and where agreed with line manager
