We are currently seeking a talented and experienced Building Official to join our team. This role offers opportunities for dynamic, motivated self‑starters to work on a variety of projects.
Job Requirements- Meet all state and locally mandated code compliance and reporting requirements.
- Apply knowledge of building codes, policies, and procedures to the day‑to‑day functions of the building department.
- Serve as the primary liaison with clients and deliver the highest level of customer service.
- Attend department and community meetings as required by the client.
- Perform plan reviews (both commercial and residential) in all trades.
- Provide inspection support as needed.
- Supervise building department staff.
- Extensive knowledge of local building code regulations, policies and procedures.
- Client and team management experience in a building department setting.
- Solid computer skills and experience using MS Office programs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Exercise initiative and display independent judgment.
- Self‑directed and self‑motivated.
- MI Building Official certification required.
- MI Building Inspector certification required.
- MI Building Plan Reviewer certification required.
- Inspection and plan review experience for commercial and residential structures required.
- Building Official experience managing a building department preferred.
- Experience supervising building department staff preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license and a good driving record required.
