Role and Responsibilities
As a Fabrication Engineer at our company, you will play a central role in transferring and scaling photonic device processes from development into production. You will work closely with process engineering, equipment maintenance, quality, and third‑party foundry partners to ensure robust, repeatable fabrication flows that meet product specifications and yield targets.
Key Responsibilities- Execute prototype and small‑scale fabrication runs for photonic integrated circuits in all technical areas (lithography, thin film, etching, characterization and back‑end)
- Document quality errors and plan the corrective actions.
- Contribute to process improvement projects to improve yield and reduce defects of released processes and processes in development.
- Contribute to new equipment/process validation
- Responsible for the statistical process control (SPC) data collection.
- Contribute to SOPs maintenance and creation
- Interact with equipment engineers at CMI for smooth fabrication of the runs
- Support the training and knowledge transfer to new team members
- Degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or a related discipline.
- Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience in semiconductor or photonics fabrication, including experience with thin film deposition, lithography, etch, CMP and metrology techniques.
- Practical understanding of foundry operations and production scale‑up, including process control and yield improvement methodologies.
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross‑functional, multi‑site teams.
- Previous experience in silicon or silicon nitride photonics fabrication.
- Knowledge of cleanroom protocols and ISO safety/environmental standards.
- Familiarity with automation tools and manufacturing execution systems (MES).
