Quality Engineer role at MTS Systems Corporation in Eden Prairie, MN. Full-time position.
OverviewThe Quality Engineer is responsible for driving continuous improvement in product quality, processes, and systems. This role will focus on corrective action management, process improvement initiatives, development of quality metrics, product compliance management and ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 standards, including leading internal and external audits.
Major Areas of Accountability- Corrective Action
- Lead root cause analysis and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Ensure timely response and closure of customer, supplier, and internal corrective actions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop sustainable solutions.
- Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to reduce defects, variation, and waste within manufacturing and business processes.
- Utilize Lean, Six Sigma, and other quality tools to improve process capability and efficiency.
- Partner with engineering, operations, and supply chain to standardize best practices.
- Product Compliance
- Manage program to ensure products meet applicable regulatory and environmental compliance requirements (e.g., RoHS, REACH, WEEE).
- Maintain and update compliance documentation within the quality management system and ERP tools.
- Partner with design engineering, supply chain, and suppliers to ensure compliance data (e.g., material declarations, certificates of compliance) is obtained and validated.
- Support customer requests for compliance declarations and audits.
- Monitor changes in global compliance standards and proactively communicate impacts to stakeholders.
- Project Management
- Plan, coordinate, and lead projects, ensuring deliverables are completed on time and within scope.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration and communication to achieve project objectives.
- Track milestones, manage risks, and provide status updates to leadership.
- Metrics Development
- Define and track key quality performance indicators (KPIs).
- Develop dashboards and reporting tools to communicate quality trends to leadership.
- Analyze data to identify systemic issues and prioritize improvement opportunities.
- ISO 9001 Knowledge & Audit Leadership
- Maintain a deep understanding of ISO 9001 requirements and ensure company compliance.
- Lead internal audits, manage audit schedules, and support external certification audits.
- Train and mentor employees on ISO 9001 processes and quality management system requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in engineering with 3+ years of experience in methods & processes, tooling & capital planning within a production environment. Manufacturing Engineer preferred.
Minimum Knowledge And SkillsWorking knowledge of:
- Process Improvement methods
- Root cause analysis and corrective action tools (5-Why, Fishbone, 8D)
- Project management tools and methods
- ISO standards and compliance
- SAP and quality systems (document control, QA, CAPAs)
- Process mapping and project planning
- Product development cycle
- Product compliance (RoHS, REACH, WEEE)

Benefits & Compensation$79,420 - $119,130 Annual Salary, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
