OverviewAre you looking for supplemental or weekend-only work? We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our healthcare team. The COTA will work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to provide therapeutic services that help patients improve their ability to perform daily activities. This role is essential in promoting the health and well‑being of individuals across various settings, including skilled nursing facilities, clinics, and home health environments.
Duties- Assist in implementing individualized treatment plans developed by the Occupational Therapist.
- Provide direct patient care, including therapeutic exercises and activities aimed at improving mobility, strength, and coordination.
- Monitor patient progress and report any changes or concerns to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
- Educate patients and their families on treatment plans and home exercises to facilitate recovery.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient care activities and progress notes in compliance with facility policies.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Uphold safety standards and infection control protocols within the clinical environment.
The ideal candidate will possess a combination of required and desirable skills, including:
- Knowledge of occupational health practices and principles.
- Experience in acute care settings.
- Strong understanding of anatomy relevant to therapy practices.
- Familiarity with home care operations.
- Understanding of medical terminology for effective communication within healthcare teams.
- Experience in home health services, providing therapy in patients' residences.
- Knowledge of geriatrics, focusing on the unique needs of older adults.
