This executive leader will spearhead growth for Optum's most strategic employer and state clients, shaping the future of healthcare through visionary leadership and enterprise-wide collaboration. As a key architect of Optum's employer market strategy and expansion, this leader will harness the full breadth of Optum's capabilities across our businesses - Optum Health, Optum Insight, Optum Rx and Optum Financial - to deliver unparalleled value and innovation to some of the largest employers.

Reporting directly to the Optum Chief Growth Officer with dotted line responsibility to Optum Health, Optum Insight and Optum Rx, this role serves as a critical member of Optum's senior leadership team, influencing enterprise strategy and driving outcomes that redefine client partnerships and market leadership.

Hybrid in MN/DC:
This position follows a hybrid schedule with four in-office days per week.

Primary Responsibilities:

Leadership Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of 5-7 high‑performing client executives, who are accountable for Optum's largest, revenue‑driving enterprise employer and state clients
  • Drive Optum's enterprise employer growth and retention strategy that leverages the company's diverse capabilities across Optum Insight, Optum Rx and Optum Health to address client need and market trends
  • Leverage a deep understanding of evolving client needs and market trends to identify opportunities to proactively expand and adapt Optum solutions, working closely with executive leadership across Optum
  • Foster teamwork and a positive work environment for a geographically distributed team, reinforcing a culture of transformation, growth, innovation and client‑centricity while providing excellent leadership to engage, develop and retain key talent and attract top new talent
  • Champion Optum's brand with employers through thought leadership, industry engagement and strategic positioning at national forums
  • Enforce the appropriate utilization of sale support systems, tools and resources to track client growth and performance activity
Internal Client Responsibilities
  • Operate effectively within a complex matrix to build solid, collaborative relationships that promote trust and communication across the enterprise
  • Develop close partnership with Optum Insight, Optum Health, Optum Rx and Optum Financial business leaders, client management and sales leaders to cohesively understand and advance the employer client strategy
  • Influence individuals at all levels of the organization; champion client interests and needs internally and collaborate in the development of new products and services
  • Establishes and maintains an intimate understanding of the client's strategy as well as the overall performance and value of Optum's capabilities suite to identify opportunities for innovation and deliver unified, enterprise‑level solutions
External Client Responsibilities
  • Cultivate deep relationships with client C‑suites, positioning Optum as a visionary partner and trusted advisor to drive sustainable, long‑term partnership
  • Monitor the marketplace to identify trends, advances and shifts in customer, channel and competitors strategies to anticipate and respond to evolving client needs and leverage Optum's integrated capabilities to deliver high‑impact solutions and white‑glove service
  • Serve as the ultimate advocate for client experience, driving measurable improvements in satisfaction and loyalty metrics, e.g. Net Promoter Scores (NPS)
