Responsibilities

• Assists provider with exams (including patient vitals), procedures and other direct patient care under direct supervision of the Provider and within the scope of practice of a Medical Assistant.
• Administers medications per policy and Provider direction; adheres to safety protocols for medication administration.
• Performs blood draws as directed by the Provider.
• May be responsible for urine collection for various testing, including employer drug screens.
• May perform splinting and casting.
• Conducts physicals such as sports physicals.
• Performs other urgent care duties (e.g., ear lavage, wound care, oxygen administration).
• Notifies the provider on duty promptly of unusual patient occurrences including medication events on incident reports.
• Notifies the Clinic Manager of patient or employee safety concerns.
• Follows guidelines and requirements of laboratory and clinical accreditation policies.
• Must be proficient in EMR/EHR.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or described by Company policy.

As a Medical Assistant, you may also support Front Office Reception. When in the front office you will help keep patients and families informed of wait times, monitor patient flow, process discharge, prepare charges, collect payments, obtain necessary signatures, and issue receipts.

The Medical Assistant supports the organization with customer service and treating all patients with respect and dignity. They help ensure the clinic and front reception area run smoothly, manage patient flow, and provide patient care services in the back office to meet patient needs.

Essential Education, Experience And Skills

Education: Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent; AND

• Completed an APPROVED (accredited) Medical Assistant training program.

OR

• Completed an UNAPPROVED (non-accredited) Medical Assistant training program AND a National Certification through one of the following:
• American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) – CMA certification; or
• American Medical Technologists (AMT) – RMA certification; or
• National Health career Association (NHA) – CCMA certification.

OR

• Completed an UNAPPROVED medical assistant training program AND was employed as a medical assistant for one year or more after program completion, OR must have verifiable supervised work experience with a Provider or Physician Group for at least 2000 hours or 1 year.

Other MA education or experience may be considered upon review and approval from our Compliance and Regulatory department.
