. This regular, full‑time position requires 35 scheduled hours per week and operates under the direct supervision of a licensed Pharmacist.
The Pharmacy Technician assists with the selection, procurement, storage, preparation, distribution, record keeping, and financial reconciliation of all medications dispensed to patients of St. Elizabeth Healthcare. The Technician adheres to all State and Federal laws, the ICARE principles, and the AIDET framework to deliver respectful, dignified, kind, and empathetic care to patients, families, visitors, and staff.
Responsibilities- Provide excellent customer service by interacting with doctors, nurses, and patients who contact the pharmacy.
- Answer queries or direct calls to the appropriate personnel for resolution.
- Process Epic messages in a timely and accurate manner.
- Consistently exhibit ICARE and AIDET principles in all patient interactions.
- Assist pharmacists in dispensing medications efficiently, filling bins and labels, and restocking Pyxis med stations and ancillary departments.
- Ensure timely receipt and delivery of all patient medication‑related information and products, including controlled substances, time‑sensitive and life‑saving medications; process ADT (Admissions, Discharges and Transfers) and verify regulatory compliance on nursing units.
- Participate in Process Improvement Programs and comply with Infection Control and Safety policies to enhance patient care and outcomes.
- Verify expiration dates for medications refilled or loaded in Pyxis stations, rotate stock, assist with monthly cycle counts, and process returns correctly.
- Begin sterile compounding training (medial fill, fingertip testing) and compound medications for infusion under supervision of a certified Pharmacy Technician II or higher.
- Prepare oral syringe medications for critically ill infants in the NICU when applicable.
- Meet departmental goals for inventory management through effective use of the inventory system.
- Enhance career development by attending departmental meetings, educational sessions, and using communication tools.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School graduate or equivalent GED.
- Registered with State Board where practicing.
- Nationally Certified (PTCB or NHA) or active Intern license.
- Typing/Computer Keyboarding.
- Experience with MS Office.
- Understanding of Metric System and Pharmacy Calculations.
- IV Admixture Experience.
- Previous experience as Hospital Pharmacy Technician preferred.
- FLSA Status:
Non‑Exempt. - Benefits and compensation package are competitive and commensurate with experience.
