Job Role
Bryce Tech is currently seeking an experienced Engineering Controls Specialist (Hazardous Work Protection). This position will support The U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM) Chemical Biological Center (CBC). The responsibilities include:
- Recommending measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials.
- Investigating accidents to identify causes and prevent future incidents.
- Inspecting or evaluating workplace environments, equipment, or practices for compliance with safety standards and regulations, with results submitted for government approval.
- Developing and maintaining hygiene programs such as noise surveys, atmosphere monitoring, ventilation surveys, and asbestos management plans.
- Coordinating "right-to-know" programs regarding hazardous chemicals or substances.
- Conducting safety training and demonstrating safety equipment use, including PPE, suits, and gloves. This training is on-the-job, not formal classroom training.
- Calibrating and certifying safety equipment, including laboratory controls like chemical fume hoods and biosafety cabinets.
Qualifications
- At least 6 years of experience in engineering controls certification.
- Technical Degree above high school diploma.
- All certifications required to certify safety equipment.
- Proven experience with Hazardous Materials handling or working in Hazardous Environments.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work cross-departmentally in a team environment.
- Excellent communication skills, initiative, and responsiveness.
- Analytical thinking abilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to meet deadlines.
