Job Description:
Bryce Tech is currently seeking an experienced Engineering Controls Specialist (Hazardous Work Protection) to support The U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM) Chemical Biological Center (CBC).
- Recommend measures to protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials.
- Investigate accidents to identify causes or determine how such accidents might be prevented in the future.
- Inspect or evaluate workplace environments, equipment, or practices to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations; results will be provided to the government for approval.
- Develop and maintain hygiene programs, such as noise surveys, continuous atmosphere monitoring, ventilation surveys, or asbestos management plans.
- Coordinate "right-to-know" programs regarding hazardous chemicals or other substances.
- Conduct safety training or education programs and demonstrate the use of safety equipment, including personal protection equipment, suits, and gloves. Training is on the job, not formal classes.
- Calibrate and certify safety equipment, including laboratory engineering controls (e.g., chemical fume hoods, biosafety cabinets).
- 6+ years of experience in engineering controls certification.
- Technical degree (or higher) above high school diploma.
- All certifications required to certify safety equipment.
- Proven experience with hazardous materials handling or hazardous environments.
- Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
- Proven ability to work in a team-based, cross-departmentally environment to complete projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational skills, initiative and follow-through, and flexibility and responsiveness to changing requirements and conditions.
- Demonstrated analytical thinking.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Must have a public trust.
