Key Responsibilities
- Preparing statutory accounts in line with HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) and Companies House requirements
- Producing year-end accounts and financial statements
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns
- Handling corporation tax and self-assessment tax returns
- Managing client bookkeeping (often using software like Xero, Quick Books, or Sage)
- Liaising directly with clients to gather financial information and provide advice
- Supporting audits (if working in an audit-enabled firm)
- Advising clients on tax efficiency and financial planning
- Ensuring compliance with UK accounting standards (e.g. FRS 102 / FRS 105)
- Experience in a UK accountancy practice (typically 2–5+ years depending on level)
- Strong knowledge of UK tax rules and financial reporting standards
- Proficiency in accounting software (Xero, Quick Books, Sage)
- Good communication skills for client interaction
- High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
