We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic team at a 2 form entry primary school located in Edgware. This role involves working with a Year 4 student who has neurological issues, resulting in a developmental delay that requires specialized attention and support. The successful candidate will play a vital role in assisting the student’s integration into the school and ensuring their educational progress.
Responsibilities- Provide one-on‑on‑one support and guidance to the Year 4 student with neurological issues, adapting teaching methods and materials to suit their individual needs.
- Assist in the integration of the student into the school environment, promoting a positive and inclusive atmosphere.
- Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to develop and implement personalised learning strategies and programmes.
- Monitor the student’s progress, record observations, and maintain accurate records of their achievements and areas for improvement.
- Foster effective communication with the student, their parents/guardians, and other relevant stakeholders, ensuring regular updates and feedback.
- Create a safe and supportive learning environment that encourages the student’s social and emotional development.
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a similar SEN setting is essential.
- Knowledge and understanding of neurological issues and their impact on learning and development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, parents/guardians, and colleagues.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with special educational needs.
- Relevant qualifications related to SEN are desirable but not essential.
- A commitment to promoting inclusion and equality in an educational setting.
Working Hours:
Half‑day role, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
Start Date:
Immediate start.
