About the Role
Teach-Now is working in partnership with a highly regarded secondary academy school in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire to recruit a passionate and creative English & Drama Teacher. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity starting in March 2026, ideal for a teacher who loves inspiring young people through language, literature, and performance.
The school was rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted (January 2023) and is widely recognised for its strong, supportive leadership and positive staff culture. Staff are valued, well-supported, and encouraged to develop professionally, making this a genuinely great place to work.
You will teach English and Drama across Key Stages 3 and 4, with opportunities to contribute to Key Stage 5 depending on experience. The department is collaborative, well-resourced, and enthusiastic about creative teaching approaches and enrichment.
Teaching & Learning Responsibilities
• Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured English and Drama lessons across KS3 and KS4
• Teach in line with the national curriculum and examination specifications
• Use a range of strategies to meet diverse learning needs and abilities
• Set high expectations for behaviour, engagement, and achievement
• Assess, track, and report on pupil progress in line with school policy
Curriculum & Wider Contribution
• Contribute to the ongoing development of English and Drama curricula
• Support shared planning, schemes of work, and moderation activities
• Take an active role in extracurricular opportunities such as school productions, drama clubs, and enrichment events
• Work collaboratively within a strong, forward-thinking department
Pastoral & Professional Duties
• Act as a form tutor if required, supporting students’ wellbeing and progress
• Build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
• Uphold safeguarding, equality, and behaviour policies
• Engage fully in CPD and performance management processes
Person Specification
Essential:
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Degree in English, Drama, or a related subject
• Ability to teach English and Drama at KS3 and KS4
• Strong classroom management and subject knowledge
Desirable:
• GCSE and/or A-Level teaching experience
• Experience directing or supporting school productions

Salary will be determined based on experience and position on the Main Pay Range. The maximum salary of £52,490 is applicable to candidates with substantial teaching experience equivalent to U3.
