Salary: £97.80 – £105 per day
Salary dependent on experience and qualifications. Higher rates are reserved for candidates with substantial experience and/or relevant training such a recognised Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent). Pay is determined in line with school expectations and Agency Worker Regulations (AWR), where applicable.
About the Role
We are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive primary school in the Barnet area for a Reception Class Teaching Assistant to join their Early Years team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a nurturing and enthusiastic individual who enjoys working with young children and supporting their early development. You will play an important role in helping pupils build strong foundations in communication, early literacy, numeracy and social skills through engaging and play-based learning.
The school promotes a caring and supportive environment where every child is encouraged to develop confidence, independence and a love for learning. You will work closely with the class teacher and wider Early Years team to support pupils both academically and emotionally during this important stage of their education.
Key Responsibilities
• Supporting the class teacher in delivering engaging activities across the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum
• Working with the whole class, small groups and individual pupils to reinforce learning and encourage participation
• Supporting daily phonics sessions using the Supersonic Phonics programme
• Encouraging pupils’ language, social and emotional development through play-based learning and positive interactions
• Assisting in setting up and maintaining stimulating indoor and outdoor learning environments
• Promoting positive behaviour, independence and good learning habits within the classroom
• Supporting children during transitions, activities and structured play throughout the school day
• Working collaboratively with teachers and support staff to ensure pupils receive consistent support
Requirements
To be eligible for this role and the stated rate of pay, applicants must have:
• Experience working with young children in EYFS or KS1, ideally in a UK primary school setting
• A good understanding of early phonics, early reading and early numeracy development
• A patient, nurturing and enthusiastic approach to supporting children
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
• The ability to work effectively as part of a team and show initiative in the classroom
• A clear commitment to safeguarding and supporting pupil wellbeing
• The right to work in the UK
