Bank Specialist Speech & Language Therapist

Central London Community Healthcare are looking for a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly and dynamic Integrated Adult Learning Disabilities Service. In this role, you will take the clinical lead, in delivering expert therapeutic assessment, diagnosis and treatment for clients with complex needs, including communication and swallowing difficulties, across various community settings. You will lead a small team of junior staff, influence service development, and benefit from leadership training, ongoing peer support and supervision.

As part of an integrated service who pride themselves in driving change and improving lives, you will have access to a supportive multidisciplinary health and social care team, helping you achieve your developmental objectives whilst delivering excellent clinical care.

• Be an active member of the clinical team, providing a comprehensive highly specialist Speech & Language Therapy service to residents of Barnet.
• Work within professional standards and clinical guidelines, promote best practice and to undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner including assessing and treating own caseload of patients/clients and maintaining professional documentation.
• Build up and maintain key relationships with referring services/ Inpatient Rehabilitation Units/ Learning Disabilities / HEFT Service / Parkinson's / voluntary and third sector organisations and acute stroke services to facilitate appropriate referrals and an understanding of the role of the Speech & Language Therapist and the Multi-professional team
• Be responsible for the supervision of junior staff;
  Speech & Language Therapists, Speech & Language Therapy Assistants, Rehabilitation Assistants, and Speech & Language Therapy students
• Work in a variety of settings in the community to deliver appropriate treatment including, clients own home, day centre's, Nursing Homes and community centre's
• Support self and service development through active participation in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and by participating in any audit or research being undertaken by the service.

• Recognised SLT degree or equivalent
• Registration with Health & Care Professionals Council.
• Registered member of RCSLT
• Member of a relevant Clinical Excellence Network
• Evidence of competence in managing complex dysphagic patients including those requiring enteral feeding.
• Evidence of relevant post-registration education and training e.g. in Stroke, Supervision

• Extensive experience of working in a variety of clinical settings within the UK/NHS.
• Experience of working and liaising with other MDT professionals
• Recent experience within community SLT setting, specialising in stroke/ neuro rehabilitation.
• Ability to understand complex issues, problem solve and propose solutions.
• Experience of supervising/ managing junior staff and students.
• Experience working with adults from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
• Experience of working with adults requiring home enteral tube feeding
