Position Overview
The Planner/Scheduler IV is a senior-level role within the project controls scheduling/planning discipline. This position is responsible for independently developing, maintaining, and analyzing master project schedules across multiple capital projects. The Planner/Scheduler IV will collaborate closely with project managers, cost controllers, control account managers, and functional departments to ensure schedule integrity, alignment, cost integration, and compliance with Enbridge project controls standards.
This role also provides technical leadership, coordination, and guidance to project teams and may support junior scheduling personnel.
Key Responsibilities
Planning & Scheduling Leadership
- Provide expert-level planning and scheduling support for project development, procurement, construction, and maintenance activities.
- Develop, refine, and maintain detailed master project schedules using Primavera P6 in accordance with Enbridge scheduling standards.
- Maintain baseline and forecast schedules throughout all project phases, integrating progress updates, physical percent complete, change management, and forecast projections.
- Analyze schedule performance, identify risks, interpret activity trends, and communicate impacts to the Project Manager.
- Prepare “what-if” schedules and scenarios to support decision-making; evaluate critical path and logic-driven alternatives.
- Utilize schedule performance metrics and variance analysis to support earned value and schedule forecasting.
- Partner with the Project Cost Controller to cost-load schedule activities and establish an integrated performance measurement baseline.
- Define rules of credit for earned value measurement and support time-phased plans and forecasting.
- Interface with project staff, functional departments, and control account managers to gather accurate schedule data including dates, sequencing, logic, and resource needs.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and vendor schedulers to ensure compliance with Enbridge scheduling standards and integration into master schedules.
- Align engineering deliverables, procurement plans, construction milestones, and commissioning activities across all stakeholders.
- Participate in team meetings to monitor progress and incorporate scope, cost, schedule, and change updates.
- Support weekly construction reporting alongside the Field Controls Analyst.
- Provide schedule-related guidance, technical support, and mentorship to junior and intermediate planners/schedulers.
- Recommend improvements to scheduling processes, systems, and project control methodologies.
- Represent the project controls scheduling function with internal teams, external partners, and customers.
- Serves as the primary scheduling representative on assigned projects.
- Independently identifies tasks and works with minimal oversight.
- Influences multiple projects, internal departments, and external stakeholders.
- Provides technically sound recommendations, including for atypical or complex scheduling issues.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Accounting, or related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of planning/scheduling experience on engineering and construction projects; oil & gas industry preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience on large, complex capital projects, preferably on the Owner’s side.
- Expert-level proficiency in Primavera P6.
- Proficient in Microsoft Project, Microsoft Timeline Pro, MS Word, SharePoint, and advanced Excel.
- Strong knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) principles and application.
- Ability to work independently and self-direct tasks and priorities.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and team collaboration skills.
- Strong analytical capabilities with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage workload in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships across all organizational levels, including vendors and service providers.
