Job Overview
M Health Fairview is looking for a Linen Aide at our Southdale location
, in Edina, MN.
Linen Aide handles, inspects, and processes new and clean linen stocks, assembles linen packs, and issues linen. Linen Aide also cleans the work area and performs any related tasks as assigned or instructed.
This position is represented under the union SEIU.
Location: Southdale hospital, located in Edina
Hours: 16 hours biweekly, with every other weekend dedication
Shift: Day shift
Schedule:
Week 1:
Sat: 6:00am – 2:30pm
Sun: 6:00am – 2:30pm
Week 2:
OFF

Responsibilities- Performs all tasks demonstrating service orientation to fellow employees, facility staff, and customers.
- Inspects and sorts linen as it is received from laundry; records and returns rejects to laundry.
- Removes clean linen from laundry carts and places it in designated areas; loads carts for delivery.
- Replenishes linen according to established levels and/or utilization.
- Maintains log for linen closets, documents unused linen, and reports any apparent discrepancy between established standards and actual usage.
- Maintains linen room in a clean and orderly condition.
- Performs all other related and miscellaneous duties as required.
- Makes certain that while delivering through the hospital, the clean linen is covered.
- Takes count of linen not used from previous delivery.
- Collects and loads soiled linen into carts from soil collection areas in the facility and transports it to the designated pick‑up area.
- Maintains records of utilization information on tablet and/or paper, including counting linen not used from previous delivery and current linen in hospital.
- Uses computer applications associated with performing basic work tasks (navigate Windows, Outlook, tablets, etc.).
- Has basic ability to read and write in English.
- Builds effective rapport with customers, coworkers, or families, actively listening to develop a positive connection.
- Reports mechanical and equipment failures or negative conditions to appropriate supervisor.
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a similar role preferred but not required.
- Ability to lift and carry moderate to heavy loads.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.
- Basic knowledge of safety and sanitation practices.
