Job Overview

Housed at the Southdale Hospital in Edina, MN, this Housekeeping Aide position is part of the SEIU union representation. The role involves daily cleaning duties to maintain an orderly, attractive, and sanitary environment for patients and staff.

Location: Southdale Hospital, Edina

Hours: 16 hours biweekly, with every other weekend dedication

Shift: Day

Schedule:

Week 1:
Sat: 7:00am – 3:30pm

SUN: 7:00am – 3:30pm

Week 2: OFF

This position is not eligible for benefits.

• Maintain knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards.
• Clean all occupied rooms daily to provide a sanitary environment for patients.
• Prepare discharge units and/or surgical procedure units and complete end‑of‑day cleaning in surgical procedure rooms.
• Keep all areas, including hard surfaces and carpeted flooring, offices and public areas, clean and attractive; collect and dispose of refuse.
• Clean up after emergency spills and breakages to prevent exposure to hazards in a timely manner.
• Perform special work assignments and report to supervisor upon completion to align with quality and frequency standards.
• Understand security requirements of medications and IV solutions.
• Restock paper supplies and maintain linen distribution system to ensure adequate supplies for user areas and patient care.
• Mix, use supplies, and maintain equipment to aid in cost containment and safety.

Required:

• Minimum 16 years of age.

Preferred:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a similar role preferred but not required.
• Ability to lift and carry moderate to heavy loads.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.
• Basic knowledge of safety and sanitation practices.

The posted compensation range corresponds to the minimum and maximum pay rates outlined in your union agreement for the respective job classifications at the time of posting. An individual's pay rate within this range may be influenced by various factors, including FTE, skills, knowledge, educational background, and qualifying experience as specified in the contract.
