Purpose

The Managed Services Operations Technician is responsible for monitoring and managing customer networking, datacenter, security, and collaboration platforms.

Scope

This position works on the Managed Services Operations team as a Technician focusing on network, voice, and/or datacenter technologies. The Technician is the primary point of contact for all incidents within the MSC. The role is subject to shift work and may require relocation to different shifts.

Travel Requirements

This position does not require travel.

Job Responsibilities
  • Monitor and manage network, datacenter, security, and voice technologies, including Cisco, VMWare, Palo Alto, Juniper, F5, HP, Net App, and related platforms.
  • Provide remote hardware/software support and documentation throughout the triage process.
  • Assist in monitoring and maintaining network hardware and software; analyze logs and perform routing incident analysis.
  • Collaborate with advanced engineering groups and vendors to resolve technical issues, provide updates, and drive incidents to resolution.
  • Operate on customers' behalf to drive issue resolution and provide regular progress updates to stakeholders.
  • Communicate effectively with the Manager and supervisors on all tasks and projects, including incident, request, and change management.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation.
  • Use monitoring tools (e.g., Zenoss, Nimsoft, Prognosis, EMC Smarts) to investigate potential issues or respond to monitoring events.

Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma/GED, Bachelor’s degree, or military experience.
  • 1+ year experience maintaining and troubleshooting Cisco IOS.
  • 1+ year experience with ticketing systems such as Remedy or Service Now.
  • 1+ year experience using network monitoring tools (Nimsoft, Zenoss, Prognosis, EMC Smarts).
  • 1+ year experience maintaining, utilizing, and troubleshooting voice, datacenter, and routing protocols (MPLS, Multicast, GRE, VoIP, HSRP, QoS, L2 switching).
