Job OverviewFairview is looking for a Nursing Assistant at the M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, MN! This position is 72 hours per two weeks on the Night shift, for 12 hour shifts, every third weekend
, and is eligible for benefits such as medical, dental, and more.

The float pool team is crucial because it provides flexibility and support across various departments. Float pool staff help maintain consistent patient care, reduce staff burnout, and ensure that departments aren’t overwhelmed during high‑demand periods. Their adaptability and cross‑specialty expertise make them an invaluable resource for maintaining smooth hospital operations and high‑quality care.
Job ResponsibilitiesThe Nursing Assistant is responsible for assisting the professional nurse/caregiver in the delivery of patient care, transporting patient and/or equipment, setting up and maintaining patient rooms, and the reordering and stocking of supplies. The Nursing Assistant does not work autonomously but works under the direction of a professional nurse. The Nursing Assistant may be given a patient care assignment based on unit needs and the discretion of the manager/charge nurse.
BasicPatient Care
- Personal grooming, bathing, toileting, feeding
- Skin care needs (clean and sterile dressing changes), applying ointments/creams
- Oral hygiene
- Specimen collection/testing
- Position/ambulating
- Changing linens
- Promptly answers call lights
- Accurately takes and records weights, input/output, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rates, respiration, oxygen saturation
- Places patient on/off monitors or equipment
- Reports unusual findings to the RN in a timely manner
- Assists with admissions, transfers, and discharge of patients
- Orients patient and their family to the environment
- Assures the patient’s belongings are accounted for, documented upon admission, transfer and discharge
- Transports patients, equipment, specimen, and supplies
- Ensures patients get to appointments on time
- Uses transfer belt when assisting patients with transfers and/or ambulation
- Cleans, sets up, and maintains rooms and equipment
- Orders and stocks supplies
- Accurately documents tasks performed on appropriate form
- Performs other tasks as needed
- Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required. Ontrack participants must be able to obtain BLS for Healthcare Providers certification upon completion of the OnTrack program.
- Successful completion of Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or another Fairview sponsored Nursing Assistant program.
- Six months of recent direct care experience in a long term, home care or acute care setting (e.g., Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant, Emergency Room Technician).
- Current enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one semester of clinical rotation within the program.
- Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire; this requirement does not need to be maintained throughout employment and is not required if subsequently transferring to another Nursing Assistant or Nursing Station Tech or Nursing Station Attendant position.
- Recent acute care hospital experience
