Scope of JobUTRGV School of Medicine Department of Surgery is recruiting an Academic Vascular Surgeon. The successful candidate will have demonstrated strong clinical capabilities in the field of vascular surgery and endovascular therapy. The candidate will play a vital role in the growth and development of care in the Rio Grande Valley and have a passion for pursuing academic vascular surgery. Responsibilities include clinical care for vascular surgery patients, teaching medical students and residents.
A track record of academic productivity is required, as the candidate will be involved actively in the research and academic mission of the Department.
MD degree with current Board certification, or eligibility for certification in Vascular Surgery. Must possess or be eligible for a Texas Medical Board full license/ ABS board certification from a Vascular Surgery Fellowship / Integrated Vascular Surgery Residency and completed an ACGME accredited residency program and qualified to hold a faculty appointment in the Department of Surgery at the UTRGV School of Medicine and appropriate hospital staff appointments.

Additional InformationUTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
