- Calculate employee hours worked from timesheets and time cards, and prepare information for submission to third-party payroll vendor.
- Review payroll information once processed and received for accuracy, and distribute paychecks to all employees.
- Coordinate and monitor FMLA and leave of absence.
- Work with the third-party administrator (TPA) for the employee’s retirement accounts, including deferrals, participant status changes, plan loans / withdrawals, election changes, annual census and ensuring 5500 is completed in a timely manner.
- Prepare insurance premium payments, third party administrator (Colonial) payments and reconcile them against the billing received by the vendors.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal laws pertaining to employee benefits and federal wage and hour laws.
- Coordinate and administer Benefits Orientation sessions (insurance and retirement benefits) to new employees and enrollment to new plan participants.
- Ensure that all 5500’s are completed in a timely manner with the TPA’s.
- Work on special projects for the Director of Human Resources as needed.
- Participate in job-specific training and other required corporate training programs.
- Act as a backup to the Staffing Coordinator in periods of absence.
- Comply with federal and state regulations and all established corporate policies and procedures.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- At least 4-5 years prior experience working with benefits for a corporate entity and familiarity with insurance reconciliations.
- Hard-working team player with professional attitude and ability to provide excellent customer service.
- Ability to prioritize, plan and perform tasks with little direction.
- Good organizational, interpersonal, communication and customer relation skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel software.
- Bilingual speaking and writing skills in English and Spanish.
- Attention to detail and mental concentration necessary for accurately performing tasks in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
- Must be able to work Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Prior working experience with both payroll and benefits is preferred.
