Assistant Manager
- Client Accounting Team Summary of the role

We are looking for an Assistant Manager to join our Client Accounting and Reporting team, taking responsibility for managing financial records, preparing management accounts and financial statements, and ensuring clients' accounting needs are met to the highest standard. If you have a sharp eye for detail, thrive in a client-facing environment, and are ready for a new Monday - join team VG!

As a key member of the Client Accounting and Reporting team, you'll help manage the financial records and reporting for multiple client entities. You'll ensure accurate, up-to-date accounting data and support the preparation of management accounts and financial statements (including audited and regulated entities) under the appropriate accounting standards. You'll work to consistently meet client and regulatory deadlines, and you'll also take responsibility for providing day-to-day guidance to the wider team and cover for managers when required.

A vital part of the role is a high degree of preparation of the accounting deliverables as well as regular client interaction. The role holder is expected to produce an excellent quality of output and contribute towards team efficiency, whilst being seen as a key accounting resource for technical consultations.

What You'll Do

The list below details the tasks your role is likely to include. It is not exhaustive and may be amended from time to time.

Client Accounting & Reporting
  • Take hands-on responsibility for bookkeeping and accounts production across a portfolio of client entities, ensuring deadlines and client expectations are met.
  • Prepare and/or review management accounts and financial statements (unaudited and audited), applying the appropriate accounting standards (FRS 102, FRS 102 Section 1A and IFRS as relevant).
  • Maintain accurate client ledgers, ensuring all transactions are supported by appropriate source documentation.
  • Collaborate with property managers, administrators, auditors and relevant third parties to resolve queries and progress deliverables.
  • Prepare ad hoc financial reports for internal analysis and client information purposes.
  • Manage and deliver Jersey Tax Returns, ensuring submission deadlines are met.
  • Prepare and submit CRS/FATCA reporting in line with required deadlines.
  • Monitor WIP and minimise write-offs by reviewing work for accuracy and completeness before submission.
  • Identify and support efficiency and process improvement opportunities across the team.
  • Maintain a strong awareness of risk and controls, ensuring compliance with internal procedures and applicable regulatory obligations.
People Leadership
  • Support junior team members, providing technical guidance and coaching to support their development.
  • Review team output regularly to ensure work is accurate, complete and delivered to a high standard.
  • Help allocate work across the team and maintain effective day-to-day coordination.
  • Support appraisals, objective-setting and ongoing feedback discussions.
  • Ensure clear two-way communication within the team, maintaining a positive and collaborative working environment.
  • Provide cover for managers within your management group during periods of absence.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
  • Holds a professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) with at least 5 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Proven experience in a Real Estate accounting role, with extensive exposure to offshore trusts, company structures and partnerships at both Prop Co and Hold Co levels.
  • Strong practical understanding of FRS 102, FRS 102 Section 1A and IFRS.
  • Experience working with auditors, clients and other third-party stakeholders.
  • Good knowledge of relevant regulatory and compliance frameworks;
