Personal Tax Senior / Assistant Manager

Accountancy Practice recruitment specialists Clark Wood are working with a highly regarded independent firm of chartered accountants and business advisers in Edinburgh who are looking to recruit a Personal Tax Senior / Assistant Manager to join their established and growing tax team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Personal Tax professional to join a respected firm with a strong private client offering, working with a high-quality portfolio of high-net-worth individuals and complex private clients.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take genuine ownership of their client base while working closely with experienced Partners and senior members of the team. The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of HNWIs and private clients, acting as a key point of contact and overseeing personal tax compliance work from preparation through to submission. The role is predominantly compliance focused, with the opportunity to become involved in personal tax advisory work depending on experience and areas of interest.

Working closely with Partners, you will be expected to deliver high-quality, review-ready work with minimal supervision, manage deadlines effectively, and provide a proactive and professional service to clients. You will also have the opportunity to support and mentor junior members of the tax team as the department continues to grow. Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Managing a portfolio of high-net-worth individuals and private clients
  • Acting as the main point of contact for allocated clients
  • Preparing and reviewing Self Assessment tax returns
  • Managing personal tax compliance deadlines and submissions
  • Delivering high-quality work with minimal Partner review
  • Supporting personal tax advisory assignments where required
  • Liaising directly with clients and resolving queries
  • Supporting and mentoring junior members of the tax team
  • Building strong and lasting client relationships
Skills:
  • ATT / CTA Qualified or Qualified by Experience
  • Strong personal tax experience gained within an accountancy practice
  • Experience managing a portfolio of personal tax clients
  • Comfortable handling complex client relationships independently
  • Strong technical knowledge of personal tax compliance
  • Organised, proactive, and able to manage workloads with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills
