Senior Commercial Officer
Duration: 6 Month Contract

One of Loriens Public Sector clients requires a Senior Commercial Officer for an initial 6 months contract.
The successful candidate will:
- Support the delivery of procurement and grant‑related commercial projects, contributing to planning, analysis and implementation while working closely with colleagues and stakeholders across the organisation.
- Assist in developing and implementing commercial approaches for contracts, grant funding and wider commercial activity, ensuring value for money and alignment with policy aims.
- Identify opportunities for spend reduction and improved cost management, including reviewing high‑value or high‑risk procurements and grants.
- Work collaboratively with policy teams and delivery partners to improve grant design, commercial robustness, outcome measurement and monitoring frameworks, while identifying and removing duplication.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of commercial tools, training materials and guidance to support capability building and continuous improvement.
- Promote the adoption of Dynamic Purchasing Systems (DPS) and other competitive commercial approaches, supporting implementation and encouraging uptake across teams.
- Provide advice and support on procurement and commercial policy requirements, escalating complex issues to senior colleagues when needed.
- Support programme reporting activities by helping track benefits, monitor grant performance and develop frameworks that strengthen the effectiveness of grant spend.
- The ideal candidate will have experience within public sector procurement, commercial activity or grant management, with strong analytical skills and the ability to engage confidently with stakeholders. A proactive and collaborative approach, alongside a good understanding of value‑for‑money principles, will be essential.
- This is a specialist role which requires evidence of a commitment towards continuous professional development, including external, advanced‑level professional accreditation of CIPS Level 4 Diploma, WCC Practitioner Certification or relevant equivalent.
