About the Role

We are looking for a sharp, commercially driven Meat Buyer who thrives on negotiation, relationship building, and securing the best deals in a fast-paced environment. This isn’t just a purchasing role — we need a deal maker who understands margins, market trends, and how to create value across the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

Source and purchase meat and protein products in line with business needs and margin targets
Negotiate pricing, contracts, and supply terms with suppliers
Build and maintain strong relationships with domestic and international suppliers
Monitor market trends, pricing fluctuations, and competitor activity
Identify new sourcing opportunities and cost‑saving initiatives
Work closely with sales and operations teams to align supply with demand
Manage stock levels, ensuring availability while minimising waste
Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards

What We’re Looking For

Proven experience in meat or protein buying, within wholesale, retail or FMCG
Confidence to negotiate, challenge, and walk away from bad deals
Strong commercial mindset with a clear understanding of margins and profitability and evidence of improving margin
Solid understanding of supply markets and pricing dynamics
Must have experience on volume deals, international supply chains and the key suppliers
Ability to thrive under pressure and make quick, informed decisions
Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills and someone who is ready to step up and take real ownership
Highly organised with strong attention to detail and focused on delivery, not talking about it
