About the RoleThe Business Development Manager – Major Projects is a strategic role within the Minerals Division, created to strengthen commercial capability through the identification and conversion of long‑term opportunities across major infrastructure programmes. Reporting to the Commercial Director, the role is focused on translating corporate growth objectives into a structured and deliverable sales pipeline aligned to national infrastructure investment.
This position plays a key role in developing opportunities across sectors such as nuclear new‑build and large‑scale infrastructure, ensuring the business is well positioned to secure multi‑year contracts that support future revenue growth and maximise operational utilisation across quarry, port, and processing operations.
What You’ll Be Doing Strategic Business Development- Develop and manage a robust strategic sales pipeline aligned to major national infrastructure programmes.
- Identify and position the business early in procurement cycles for multi‑year projects and frameworks.
- Convert pipeline opportunities into secured contracts and sustainable revenue streams.
- Support the delivery of long‑term growth objectives through targeted business development activity.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, Tier 1 contractors, government bodies, and industry stakeholders.
- Represent the business across a national footprint within major infrastructure sectors including nuclear and highways.
- Establish credibility and influence at senior levels to support successful opportunity conversion.
- Align business development activity with operational capability, ensuring opportunities are deliverable and commercially viable.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with long‑term strategic planning.
- Support improved utilisation of quarry, port, and processing assets through effective pipeline development.
- Contribute to the overall commercial performance of the Minerals Division through proactive pipeline and opportunity management.
- Proven experience in business development within infrastructure, construction, or related sectors.
- Strong track record of securing large‑scale, long‑term contracts or framework agreements.
- In-depth understanding of infrastructure project pipelines, procurement processes, and delivery models.
- High level of commercial acumen with strong strategic thinking capability.
- Experience working with Tier 1 contractors, government bodies, and major infrastructure stakeholders.
- Strong planning, organisation, and pipeline management skills.
- Ability to align commercial opportunities with operational and strategic business capability.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
- Self‑motivated and able to work independently while maintaining alignment with senior leadership.
