Truro and Penwith College is seeking to appoint a highly motivated and experienced Health & Safety and Compliance Manager to support the delivery of a comprehensive health and safety service across the College.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in promoting a positive safety culture within a dynamic, multi-site educational environment.
About the Role Reporting to the Head of Estates, you will:
Hold overall responsibility as the College’s Competent Person.
Provide expert health and safety advice and guidance to staff across the College Support managers in developing and maintaining risk assessments and safe systems of work Undertake inspections, audits, and incident investigations, ensuring compliance with legislation
Analyse data and contribute to continuous improvement of safety performance
Promote and support health and safety training and awareness
Keep up to date with legislative changes and best practice
Be the Competent Person Support the development of systems in line with recognised frameworks such as ISO 45001
You will play a visible, hands-on role in ensuring the College provides a safe, compliant, and supportive environment for staff, students, and visitors.
What We’re Looking For We are seeking a proactive and knowledgeable professional who has:
EssentialNEBOSH Diploma or Level 5 qualification (or equivalent)
Proven experience in a health and safety role Strong understanding of health and safety legislation and best practice
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Ability to manage workloads, prioritise effectively, and work independently
Experience working across complex or multi-site environments
Strong IT and organisational skills
DesirableIOSH membership (or working towards Chartered status)
Experience with in an education or public sector environment Knowledge
