You will play a key role in managing compliance across property related safety areas, including fire safety, water hygiene, electrical safety, asbestos management, and environmental legislation.

You’ll report to the H&S department and work closely with SGN’s property and facilities teams, providing assurance and support to ensure safe and compliant workplaces, while engaging directly with contract partners to oversee compliance, CDM activities, inductions, and contractual safety requirements.

We deliver safety, warmth, and comfort to homes and businesses. Every role, whether in the office or on the front line, plays a key part in this mission. Here’s how you will contribute…

  • Provide competent support and guidance to SGN for property safety compliance across depots, offices and logistic sites in accordance with UK legislation and internal policies.
  • Review and, where appropriate, challenge contractor Risk Assessments, Method Statements, competence evidence and Permits to Work for property-related activities.
  • Provide technical safety input to property maintenance, refurbishments and construction works. Support CDM client duties by ensuring pre-construction information is suitable and sufficient.
  • Conduct property safety inspections, elevate safety critical defects, and drive timely closure of corrective actions.
  • Lead or support incident investigations, ensuring learning outcomes and insights are shared to promote continuous improvement in line with SGN’s Zero Harm culture.
  • Support SGN’s environmental objectives by ensuring awareness of environmental legislation and responsibilities.
What you will need
  • A minimum of a NEBOSH General Certificate and NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate (or equivalent)
  • Proven experience managing property and facilities safety compliance across multi-site estates.
  • Strong knowledge of UK property safety and environmental legislation.
  • Confident communicator with effective stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience conducting safety inspections, reviewing RAMS and contractor partner competence checks.
  • Experience of conducting accident / incident investigations.
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills, with the ability to influence and drive continuous improvement.

This role will involve travel across the Scotland SGN Patch and a full driving license and vehicle will be required and you may need to spend occasional nights away from home.
