Project Management Assistant

As our project portfolio continues to grow, with increasing demand across the renewable energy market and a diverse range of residential, public sector and commercial developments, we have an exciting opportunity for an organised and proactive Project Management Assistant to join our Building Structures team. Supporting the delivery of multidisciplinary projects across the UK, you will play an important role in helping our engineers and project managers successfully deliver technically complex and nationally significant projects.

Purpose

and Scope of the Role

You will join the Renewables team in Edinburgh, providing project management support across a varied project portfolio. Working closely with Project Managers, engineers and technical staff, you will contribute to the efficient management of project finances, programmes, resources and information while helping to ensure projects are delivered in accordance with company procedures and client requirements.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include supporting project setup activities, maintaining project governance processes, assisting with programme and resource management, and monitoring project performance throughout the delivery lifecycle. You will also support project finance activities, including invoice preparation, project reviews and budget monitoring, helping teams maintain visibility and control across their projects.

In addition, you will assist with business development activities, supporting the tracking of opportunities, coordinating bid information and helping to maintain accurate project and business records. The role requires a highly organised approach, strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced professional environment.

Project Controls, Financial Management and Governance

A key aspect of the role will be supporting the effective management of project controls. You will assist Project Managers in maintaining robust governance processes, monitoring budgets, tracking resources and supporting programme delivery across a range of projects.

You will help monitor project change and financial risk, ensuring that relevant information is accurately recorded and communicated. By supporting project finance reviews and the preparation of invoices, you will contribute to maintaining financial performance and ensuring projects remain aligned with commercial objectives.

Your ability to understand project performance data and support informed decision-making will play an important role in helping teams achieve successful project outcomes.

Programme Coordination and Information Management

You will be responsible for supporting the management of project information and maintaining clear, accurate and consistent project records. This will include managing incoming information, maintaining document registers, supporting document numbering systems and assisting with the issue of information through Common Data Environments where required.

You will also help coordinate project meetings, including health and safety reviews, design reviews and project progress meetings. Through effective organisation and communication, you will help ensure actions are recorded, information is distributed appropriately and project teams remain aligned throughout delivery.

A methodical and structured approach to document management and programme coordination will be essential to ensuring the smooth operation of project activities.

Collaborative Working and Stakeholder Support

Collaboration is central to the way we deliver projects. Working within a multidisciplinary team environment, you will interact with engineers, technicians, project managers and colleagues across a range of specialist disciplines. You will build strong working relationships across the business, supporting project teams and contributing to a positive and collaborative culture.

Strong communication skills will be important in this role, enabling you to engage confidently with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Whether coordinating meetings, supporting project reporting or assisting with business development activities, you will play an important part in maintaining effective communication and supporting project success.

Your willingness to learn, take initiative and contribute wherever required will help you become a valued member of the team.
