As an Events Officer, at the Scottish Parliament, you’ll work within a fast-paced team to provide support to the co-ordination, planning, organisation and delivery of parliamentary events including Member-sponsored events and major public events and exhibitions. You’ll organise Member-sponsored events on behalf of the sponsoring Member and be the key point of contact for external event organisers. You’ll work closely with the event organiser from the start of the process, helping them to develop and deliver their event.
You’ll have responsibility to ensure that each event is delivered to plan and that the comfort and safety of guests is maintained at all times. You’ll also work on the major events and exhibitions programme guiding and supporting external organisers. You’ll be the key point of contact for all internal stakeholders in events. You’ll also draft programmes, scripts and briefings for the Presiding Officer’s Office as required.
Your working pattern will involve evening work as you deliver approximately 12 events per week. You’ll have responsibility to ensure that each event is delivered to plan and that the comfort and safety of guests is maintained at all times. You’ll be the key point of contact for internal stakeholders involved in events and will also draft programmes, scripts and briefings.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a high level of personal credibility with excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships. With excellent time management, organisation skills, and attention to detail, you’ll have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, working under pressure and to tight deadlines.
