The Sustainability Lead Business Partnerships is responsible for owning the sustainability agenda in assigned Markets & Categories, ensuring alignment with Diageo’s Sustainability 2030 strategy and longer-term ambitions. Working as a sustainability partner across Global Business Partnerships, the role provides strategic leadership, business partnership and governance to translate sustainability ambitions into practical, deliverable plans that support business performance and Grain to Glass commitments.

The role will lead and support delivery across:

• Energy efficiency
• Water stewardship
• Circularity
• Nature and biodiversity
• Climate resilience
• Sustainability governance and reporting
• Long-term sustainability strategy and roadmap development

The role works closely with Market & Category Leadership teams, Engineering, Operations, Procurement, Technical teams and Global Sustainability experts to strengthen roadmap delivery, improve governance and accelerate execution across strategic sustainability programmes.

Lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of sustainability roadmaps across assigned Markets & Categories, ensuring delivery of sustainability targets and strategic priorities.

Partner with Category Leadership, Engineering, Operations and Technical teams to drive sustainability programmes, innovation, pilot studies and business transformation initiatives.

Monitor sustainability performance through robust governance, KPI management, reporting and roadmap reviews, identifying risks and driving corrective actions where required.

Provide strategic sustainability insight to support investment decisions, capital planning, prioritisation and long‑term business planning.

Build sustainability capability across the assigned Markets & Categories by promoting best practice, strengthening stakeholder engagement and embedding sustainability into business decision making.

Strategic Business Partnership – Builds trusted relationships across senior stakeholders, influencing decision making and aligning sustainability priorities with business objectives.

Programme Leadership & Governance – Leads complex sustainability programmes through effective governance, performance management and delivery oversight.

Continuous Improvement & Sustainability Leadership – Drives innovation, promotes best practice and continuously improves sustainability capability, performance and operational delivery.

Degree qualified in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Engineering or a related discipline.

Solid experience in sustainability, environmental, engineering or operational roles within manufacturing, food, beverage or consumer goods industries.

Strong knowledge of carbon management, energy, water stewardship, circularity, climate resilience and environmental sustainability.

Good understanding of sustainability legislation, reporting frameworks and environmental standards.

Experience working within manufacturing operations, engineering, supply chains and capital investment programmes.

Proven experience delivering complex transformation programmes and cross-functional projects.

Strong programme and project management capability.

Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder leadership skills with the ability to influence senior leaders.
