Site Supervisor – Substation & Cable Route Works

The Role
We are seeking an experienced Site Supervisor to support the delivery of a major substation project, with a strong focus on cable route construction works. The successful candidate will oversee day-to-day site activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, and to the required quality standards.
This role is well suited to a hands-on supervisor with a background in utilities, power, or civil infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervise cable route works including trenching, ducting, draw pits, reinstatement, and associated civils
* Coordinate subcontractors, plant, and labour on site
* Ensure compliance with RAMS, CDM Regulations, and site-specific H&S requirements
* Carry out site briefings, toolbox talks, and daily activity planning
* Liaise with the Site Manager, Project Manager, and client representatives
* Monitor quality, productivity, and progress against the programme
* Ensure environmental controls are in place in line with SEPA requirements
* Maintain accurate site records, permits, and reports
Requirements
* Proven experience as a Site Supervisor on substation, power, or cable route projects
* Strong understanding of civil works related to HV/LV cable installation
* SMSTS or SSSTS (essential)
* CSCS card (Supervisor level or higher)
* First Aid at Work
* Good knowledge of H&S legislation and best practice
* Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications
* Full UK driving licence
Desirable
* Experience working on live substations or power projects
* Temporary Works Supervisor
* Confined Space or NRSWA certification
* Scottish utilities or DNO experience
